The Worst Class in the World Dares You! by Joanna Nadin & Rikin Parekh ~ Blog Tour

After thoroughly enjoying the original The Worst Class in the World book in 2020, I was delighted to be offered the chance to read The Worst Class in the World Dares You! by Joanna Nadin and illustrated by Rikin Parekh – a laugh out loud collection of crazy school adventures.

This third book in the series is hilarious! I read it aloud to my three children on a dreary afternoon when we were all feeing tired and a bit out of sorts. It didn’t take long for them to start laughing, groaning and predicting all the silly things Stanley, Manjit and their friends were going to get up to next. They spent the rest of the evening telling each other all the things that might LITERALLY happen and working out their next FOOL PROOF PLAN just like the characters in the book.

According to their headteacher, Mrs Bottomley-Blunt, Class 4B is LITERALLY the worst class in not just the school, but in the entire world. They spend most of their time coming up with madcap schemes and breaking every rule in the book. Despite never being as good as 4A, the class wouldn’t have it any other way. They thoroughly enjoy every silly escapade and work their socks off trying to come up with their next plan.

The introduction and two stand-alone stories, “Nits” & “Dares”, that make up this entertaining book are full of all the things Year 4 children find exciting: insects, burps, sick, avoiding getting into trouble, dares, trying to impress their teachers and being the best at everything. The result is a fast-paced, enjoyable read overflowing with giggles and thoughts of which real life children these loveable characters remind me of.  Mrs Bottomley-Blunt’s list of 125 school rules is impressive. As a teacher, I can just imagine the conversations with children that caused each new rule to come into being. When children have an excuse for everything, teachers have to make sure all bases are covered!

The children in this brilliant book prove that there’s a real joy in being a little bit naughty and seeing just how much you can get away with!

Thank you to Bloomsbury & Fritha Lindqvist for this fun book!
