Book Review, Middle Grade Fiction

Dragon City by Katie Tsang & Kevin Tsang

I think this just might be my favourite book in the fantastic Dragon Realm series! Full of action and excitement, the gang are even more reliant on their relationships with each other as they try to rescue their dragons and find their way home.

We rejoin Billy, Dylan, Charlotte and Ling-Fei in some sort of dragon beauty salon in the middle of Dragon City. The evil Dragon of Death rules over everyone – dragons and humans alike – in a brutal regime. Spark has betrayed the group and the children are trapped in a dark and distant future.

Life without his dragon is agonising so when Billy spots a chance to fix the mess the world is in, he jumps at it – quite literally. With the help of a gorgeous little dragon called Midnight, a gold pig who will eat just about anything and some powerful dragon magic, he just might manage it.

There’s a real sense of camaraderie in this story as the children realise they are stronger together. It’s an incredibly risky adventure but when has a little danger ever stopped them before? Trust, loyalty and forgiveness determine whether they will fall or fly.

Thank you to Simon & Schuster UK Children’s for this high speed, heart-bonded adventure!
