Green Planet: Life in our Woods and Forests is another wonderful book in the Colours of the World series from Little Tiger Press. It’s rich green, textured hard cover makes it a beautiful non-fiction book for exploring the importance of forest conservation with children. It would be best suited to Key Stage 1 and Lower Key Stage 2 (Years 1-4).
Full of fascinating facts from the parts of a tree, to how trees eat, to how animals use trees, to a detailed exploration of the different types of forests, there is so much to learn. Life in the forests focuses on specific animals with appealing illustrations providing detail and clarity. The book ends with a look at our own relationships with the forest and how to create sustainable forests that will survive.
This is a lovely addition for any school library, classroom topic box or home non-fiction collection.
Thank you to Little Tiger Press for this beautiful book!
Green Planet: Life in our Woods and Forests would make a great companion to Blue Planet: Life in our Oceans and Rivers also by Moira Butterfield & illustrated by Jonathan Woodward. Click here to read my review.

I really need to invest in Blue Planet and Green Planet for our KS1 classes – they look absolutely fantastic!
