The Great Reindeer Rescue by Stephen Mangan & Anita Mangan

The Great Reindeer Rescue by Stephen Mangan and illustrated by Anita Mangan is a fantastically funny Christmas adventure. From the very first page, readers will laugh out loud at this off-the-wall tale of Santa’s newest reindeer, Dave, and the trouble he (unintentionally) causes when Rudolph is boastful one too many times.

Dave is nervous on his first Christmas Eve and can’t stop talking. The dry responses from the other reindeer (who are trying to concentrate) give insight into the often unknown point of view of Santa’s team. An emergency landing on a housetop in the UK and an almighty Christmas lights explosion scatters the reindeer all over the world. It’s up to Dave to get them back and save Christmas!

The shocked owners of the house are Christmas lovers Holly and her dad, Simon. They have more decorations than anyone in the neighbourhood. When Santa’s sleigh crash lands on their roof, they know it will be a Christmas with a difference (Holly’s dad has disappeared for one thing!) Holly sets off with Dave on the adventure of a lifetime.

The Great Reindeer Rescue is one hilarious event after another – just the thing for middle grade readers this December! This story would make a brilliant animated festive film reminiscent of Arthur Christmas.

A huge thank you to Penelope Daukes and Scholastic UK for this fun book!
