Together by Jane Chapman

Together is a beautiful picture book that teaches young readers that sadness doesn’t have to last – there is comfort in friendship and community. Being together is always better than being alone.

This story follows a little gorilla alone in the jungle. Something big and scary comes along. It seems frightening but it’s actually a friend. They two gorillas look after each other, finding a place of community, of safety, of family.

The world can seem full of shadows but this book shows children the importance of a friend to make life better. The majesty of the gorillas brings so much to the simple wording of the text. They show that compassion spans the human and animal worlds. Love crosses every boundary and is something we all share.

Thank you to Little Tiger for this gorgeous book!
