When their counsellor helps her identify the gift of ‘helping’ and assigns her to be support manager for the musical, she feels even more left out. On the night of a super full moon, Ayesha wishes her life could be different and discovers an incredible power. She can make any wish come true. Now she’s in control and can create the exact summer she dreamed of – but, of course, this kind of power comes with huge responsibility. As the summer progresses, Ayesha makes some big wishes and learns a lot about being true to herself. In the end, she realises that perhaps the messiness of life is better than fake perfection and life should be the way it’s meant to be.
This fun story is full of the joys of summer. The reality of teen anxiety and striving for perceived perception is so relatable and will help young people feel understood. The Summer My Wishes Came True is a great transition book across Key Stage Two and Key Stage Three and just right for the end of the summer holiday.
