Whisper to the Rescue by Rose Robbins ~ Blog Tour

Sometimes, the quietest ones notice the most. This is certainly true of Whisper – the smallest, quietest dragon whose family is tearing down trees and lighting dangerous fires. Always trying to look after the other animals and protect the mountainside, Whisper needs to make his voice heard. But no matter what he tries, his family just won’t listen. Thankfully, Whisper’s friends, Bear and Owl, help him come up with a plan. Whisper might not be able to shout the loudest but his fantastic drawings get the point across. Finally, the dragons realise the damage they’re causing and how important it is to make the mountainside safe for everyone.

Whisper to the Rescue is a charming book encouraging children to use their voice and stand up for what they believe in. It models that there is more than one way to communicate effectively and everyone’s opinion matters. Bear and Owl come alongside Whisper to show the power of teamwork and how children can rely on their friends to lend a hand. “The was problem was shared and, together, the problem was solved.”

A strong environmental message is presented in a new, creative way. Through Whisper’s compassion, children will develop empathy for the creatures losing their homes and in danger from the dragons’ actions.

Rose Robbins writes wonderfully empathetic stories that help children feel seen and valued. They’re perfect for class read alouds or to share at bedtime.
