Porky Pies by Ross Montgomery & Marisa Morea

Porky Pies is a brilliant new take on two favourite fairy tales: The Three Little Pigs & The Boy Who Cried Wolf! Follow this mischievous little pig as he pranks the others again and again with “The big bad wolf is back!” This isn’t funny! What will happen when the wolf actually shows up? Will the pigs believe him?

One day, he finds himself in real trouble. There are signs of the wolf everywhere causing him to run “whee, whee, whee” all the way home to get help. But the other pigs won’t do anything – they think it’s just another one of his pranks.

Porky Pies could be used as a class read as a part of a traditional tales unit in Key Stage 1 or to inspire alternative tales up to about Year 4/5. It is absolutely perfect for Year 1 children who are familiar with the original stories. They’ll enjoy spotting the adaptations and the funny situations the little pig finds himself in.

Barrington Stoke Little Gems are aimed at readers age 5+ who are ready to make the step to slightly longer stories combining chapters and fantastic illustrations. Porky Pies is so engaging! Children will be gasping and giggling as they realise what’s happening to this naughty little pig!
