The War of the Heavenly Horses by Roland Chambers ~ Blog Tour

Billy wakes up in the middle of a battlefield. Galloping hooves pound the earth. Surely he will be trampled?

The Heavenly Horses or Ferghana are the fastest most beautiful horses ever. The Emperor Wudi of China wants them for his cavalry. The Horse King won’t let him have them. Billy’s new friend, Han, son of China’s greatest emperor, rides the best of them but without Billy’s help he will lose his head.

The Adventures of Billy Shaman brilliantly combine history, science and geography through the use of fascinating artefacts and a boy who is always ready for adventure. In his second quest, Billy is sent 2000 years into the past to help a young boy who longs to find his mother and look after his treasured horse.

Billy’s parents are explorers and when they’re off on expeditions, he spends long days living in what was the house of Charles Darwin and is now a museum dedicated to his discoveries. It is a museum full of unhappy ghosts who cling to specimens Darwin brought back from his travels. It turns out Billy has magical powers that allow him to not only see these ghosts, but help them find peace. Readers journey with Billy to discover the significance of these incredible objects with very real links to the past.

One night, Princess Hala of China appears to Billy at the museum and tells him her son is about to be beheaded. Only Billy can save him. As he’s knocked into the past, Billy realises this quest is not going to be easy. After being nearly trampled by stampeding horses, he sets off to face the emperor, bring a spirit horse back from the underworld and reunite a family who has known nothing but loss.. On this amazing adventure, Billy is able to reveal the truth of the real-life Heavenly Horses and Zhang Qian – The Great Travellor who opened up the Silk Roads.
