The Taming of the Cat by Helen Cooper

The Taming ot the Cat is a charming story of Brie (a story-telling mouse) and a murderous cheese-shop cat. It’s the classic tale of cat and mouse and lots of cheese but with a delightful twist. The other greedy mice task Brie with distracting Gorgonzola, the guard cat, with imaginative stories while they scurry in and out to steal the cheese. Is it actually possible to tame a cat?

At first Brie worries about being different from the other mice. Readers will see them taking advantage of Brie and hope he finds a way to stand up to them and be true to himself.

This is such a beautiful book – perfect for Christmas or cat lovers at any time of year. Brie’s imaginative stories carry readers into a marvelous world of a princess, a dragon and a giant cat. Each illustration is so full of character, adding to the wonder of the story. Adult readers will enjoy spotting references to different types of cheese throughout the book – likely to be inspired to visit their own local cheese shop for a late night snack!
