Bella Bright and the Ghost Game by Carolyn Ward ~ Blog Tour

Hide and seek is the perfect sleepover game – even better when you live in an old, spooky house. But when it turns out the house is actually haunted, hide and seek suddenly becomes deadly!

Bella Bright and the Ghost Game is the perfect story for Hallowe’en. With her mum taking on design contracts to renovate old buildings, Bella moves around a lot. After arriving at another new school, she just wants to keep her head down and maybe make a friend. Two mean girls decide to latch on to her and invite themselves over for a sleepover at Bella’s current house – Darkling Manor. Fortunately, Bella’s new friend Lex agrees to come too. Little do they know there’s another playmate in the house – Alice, a ghost who died 150 years ago while playing hide and seek!

This fun middle grade horror doesn’t shy away from real issues for children. As well as the difficulty of moving house and trying to make new friends, Bella also has a stammer. She coaches herself to be calm, take deep breaths and remember what’s she’s learned in speech and language therapy. Even when teased about how she speaks, she channels her inner strength and tries to ignore the unkind words. In the end, her bravery and take-charge attitude proves she’s the type of girl worth getting to know.

Wellbeck Kids and Carolyn Ward have created a brilliant activity pack to accompany this chilling book! Choose from eight different activities to add to your enjoyment of the story.
