Bridget Vanderpuff and the Baked Escape by Martin Stewart ~ Blog Tour

Inventive, creative and laugh-out-loud fun, Bridget Vanderpuff and the Baked Escape is a heart-warming story of dreams, family and never giving up hope. Young Bridget is a heroine bursting with personality (and a lot of hair!) Memorable for all the right reasons, she doesn’t shy away from trying to outwit the baddy in her life, she’s determined to do her best no matter what challenges confront her and she’s always kind.

David Habben’s fantastic illustrations emphasise every wild and wonderful element of this story. From Bridget’s hair, where she stores all sorts of things, to the locked and secret door to the recipes gone wrong, hilarity and charm leaps off the page.

We first meet Bridget at the Orphanage for Errant Childs. Run by the Miss Trunchbull-esque Miss Acrid, there’s nothing nice about living there. Even when all the other children have found their forever homes, Miss Acrid is determined to squash every dream Bridget might have had and lock her away. Then, one day, Mr Vanderpuff arrives. Someone told him about Bridget in a dream and he knew had to come for her. It turns out everyone derseves love, even Bridget. Her own dream might finally come true – a real home.

Vanderpuff’s Bake Shop is the most incredible place. Full of friendship and fun, Bridget and Mr Vanderpuff are the perfect match. She charms him with her eccentric ways and desire to learn while he shows Bridget it doesn’t matter if she’s the “best worst baker” – he loves her no matter what. As they get to know each other, Bridget learns why Mr Vanderpuff isn’t completely happy. Maybe she can find a way to unlock his heart and find his missing treasure.

Baking (and life) is always best when it’s shared. Bridget and Mr Vanderpuff prove this in this deliciously magical adventure!
