Eva and Toby are back in a second imaginative and highly engaging adventure from David Oates. Following on from The Imagination Thief, The Dream Hoarder takes readers back into an amazing world of imaginary friends, fairy knights, wizards, dragons and the incredible Astrodog!
A dark shape has been haunting Eva’s dreams. It can’t be the Imagination Thief who they defeated in their last adventure. Is there some other evil creature trying to destroy imagination? They need to get to the bottom of it by travelling to the Kingdom of Tutum – home of unwanted imaginary friends.
Imaginary friends are no problem for Eva – it’s real friends she sometimes struggles to make (and keep). Her love of all things fantasy, off-the-wall stories and her ability to talk to imaginary friends tend to put people off. She tries to be less of who she really is but that isn’t right either. When she meets Grace, Eva’s desperate to have a new friend and not scare her off. Grace is deaf and wears hearing aids. Everything’s going fairly well until Grace unknowingly follows Eva and Toby through a portal into the imaginary world. How are they going to explain this?!
As the trio search for the Dream Hoarder and try to put a stop to her plans, they find out so much about each other. Eva begins to realise it’s ok to be quirky. Grace helps her to be true to herself and follow every adventure. This is an inclusive story about how special it is to be unique and how the world is a better place because of everyone’s dreams.
