Miles Morales: Shock Waves by Justin A Reynolds & Pablo Leon

According to my children, Miles Morales is really cool! Having read this exciting middle grade graphic novel, I’d have to agree.

Miles is a diverse hero kids can relate to. He isn’t the original Spider-Man but he knows the legendary Peter Parker and has been inspired to carry on his great work after being bitten by a genetically engineered spider. Not only can he swing from building to building and save the world from villains, but he can also make himself invisible and stun with his Venom Blast!

In this well-developed story,  Miles and his friends want to raise money to help a devastated island in Puerto Rico after an earthquake. His mother is from Puerto Rico so it’s a cause really close to his heart. It’s all going well, especially when a big corporation makes a huge donation, but then, things start going very wrong.

Readers can follow Miles through every gritty, action-packed page as he shows that he is a Spider-Man with a difference and that anyone can be a superhero if they help those in need.

Thank you to Scholastic for this exciting graphic novel kids are sure to love!
