Now that the sparkly magic of Christmas has passed, we can dive into something a bit more scary. When I say “a bit”, I actually mean “a lot”! I made the mistake of reading this book in a deserted car park, on my own, in the dark (while I waited for my son to finish his tennis lesson). This is a lights on, no strange noises kind of a book!
Caiden and his best friend Sam enjoy helping Caiden’s dad with his unusual job – he clears people’s houses following their death. They’ve found some pretty strange items in the past but the Kinski home is something else! Grotesque mounted heads of creatures never seen on Earth raise so many questions about what really happened to Sasha Kinski and what kind of evil filled the house. Later that night, in the family warehouse, Caiden and Sam realise the evil might have followed them home.
The legendary Queen of Middle Grade Horror, Jennifer Killick, has teamed up with the brilliant publisher Barrington Stoke to create a spooky tale that is rich in content but incredibly accessible. With dyslexia-friendly font, spacing and page tint, everyone can enjoy these books. The manageable length and carefully chosen vocabulary encourages success and will have Key Stage 2 and 3 readers eagerly awaiting the next book.
Thank you to Barrington Stoke for a copy of this fantastic book!
