Based on The Day of the Triffids, Silent Night is a chilling Christmas thriller. What starts as a fun, family Christmas Eve turns very weird overnight. Cousins Masen, Conor & Jos are staying in a caravan at an AirBnB with their parents in the nearby cottage. Storm Elena is blowing in and it’s getting cold so everyone snuggles down for the night. The holiday let seems nice enough, except for the strange Christmas trees in every room that look like they’re covered in some sort of mushroom fungus.
The next morning, the strange plants have shrivelled and all the adults are missing. The kids have no choice but to pull together and set out to solve this bizarre mystery. Where are the adults? Are the kids in danger? Has anyone else been affected? There are far more questions than answers – none more important then “Who can they trust?”
Silent Night is a unique twist on a Christmas tale. With themes of family, coping with anxiety, resilience, and rising above the greatest adversity, it will be a great addition to Key Stage 3 libraries.
