The Book of Stolen Dreams: The Final Battle by David Farr

The Final Battle is the outstanding finale to The Book of Stolen Dreams trilogy. With incredible depth of meaning, it explores the line between life and death through a thrilling adventure. Themes of betrayal, power, resistence and trust underpin questions about what is truly important in life. Author David Farr has elevated the usual middle grade adventure with captivating prose. Readers feel like they really know the characters, travelling with them into eternity… and back.

Rachel & Robert Klein are back with their father after the defeat of the evil dictator Charles Malstain. Freedom has been restored and the citizens of Krasnia are living life to the full. Art and culture can be celebrated once more. After going missing for a week, famous actor Emil Bonfleur returns to a hero’s welcome – but something isn’t right. There’s a glint in his eye that Rachel knows all too well. Emil’s thirst for power and the pulsing of the Blood Red Key suggest he isn’t who he seems. Only Rachel can discover the truth and save Krasnia.

Inspired by David Farr’s own family history during the Second World War, this is a story reminiscent of those who faced the tyranny of Nazi Germany. In his conclusion, David Farr says, “…these books and characters…are about anyone living under oppression or tyranny. Anyone who has to flee from a terrifying, violent force. Anyone who lives under injustice. Rachel and Robert can be any creed, any race, any religion. They could even be you.” These are important issues for children age 9+ to consider. These books allow them to explore them in a safe way through a wonderful imaginary world.
