“Welcome to Midnight Treats.
A sweet shop where magic and science collide in the most delicious way.”
The Midnight Sweet Factory is an absolutely delicious mystery full of science, puzzles and peril. The next adventure in the Wanderdays series, it reintroduces the fantastic foursome of Joseph, Flo, Funmi and Isaac. Each brilliantly gifted in their own way, this group of friends has everything they need to defeat terrible villains and save their town.
The excitement of a theme park and the temptation of a new sweet shop is an appetising combination. When “Midnight Treats” opens in the Aderemi Adventure Park, the gang can’t resist, especially with the offer of a free Gargantuan Gobstopper with every purchase. But when Joseph finds a hidden message inside the wrapper, their fun day out turns into mystery. Someone is in trouble – trapped in the Midnight Forest! It’s up to them to discover who sent the message, where they are and why they’re trapped!
They set off on a high-speed, suger-fuelled quest as accidental stowaways on a ship to the Midnight Forest. Each step in their investigation reveals more about the evil Melissa Midnight and her deadly use of science. As they make their way through a forest full of perilous surprises, they understand more and more the contrast between environmental conservation and power. Using knowledge of geography, plants, technology and physics, they’re able to beat every challenge until they find themselves in a Wonka-esque factory. Kidnapping, hypnosis, traps and endless dangers create such a thrilling story. Melissa Midnight is a fantastic villain who will stop at nothing to become all-powerful. Attacks on her rivals and ruthless ways mean no one is safe and it’s going to take every bit of teamwork and courage to defeat her.
The Midnight Sweet Factory is a must-have for Key Stage 2 class libraries. Along with the first book, Journey to Fantome Island, there is sure to be a queue of children waiting to read it.
