The Amulet of Hath by Vashti Hardy & illustrated by Rebecca Sheerin

The Amulet of Hath is the thrilling second book in the Relic Hunters series. This is a fantastic, accessible series for readers age 9+ from the queen of STEM adventures, Vashti Hardy

In the first book, The Clockwork Key, we meet Mabel and Will Greystone who are learning to search the world for ancient treasure under the guidance of their Aunt Lucy (and her grumpy, talking stuffed cat, Grimm). In book two, they’re off again. This time they’re in search of the lost gold of Hath. Following the symbols on a one-of-a-kind amulet, they travel to the country of Zephra. The only problem is someone else is searching too – notorious glory hunter Byron Cogsworth.

The team works together to solve riddles and find clues that take them on an Indiana Jones-esk desert adventure. Unique technological transportation like a Hover Galleon and robotic camels help them on their way. With respect for history and a clear value of artefacts, the Greystones understand how important it is to heed the warnings of the ancients and search with honourable intentions.

As they race Cogsworth to each stage of the quest, they come to understand real treasure. Stories of the past, time with family and helping others is far more important than all the gold in the world.
