The Maps and Flags Book by Joe Fullman

Incredibly detailed and bursting with facts, The Maps and Flags Book is a valuable resource perfect for every Key Stage 2 classroom. Children love exploring geography – discovering how things are similar and different around the world. They will spend hours looking at this fascinating book, coming back to it again and again.

Reading maps is such an important life skill. The Maps and Flags Book gives readers a first look at all sorts of maps. The clear introduction covers information from “What is a map?” to different types of maps to how flags are designed.

Sections organised by continent provide an overview with facts and large maps. Then each country is given its own block that includes the flag, population, area, currency, the year the flag was adopted, a mini map with the capital city labeled and an interesting flag fact. I’m so pleased to see Canada as the very first country featured!

Fun and interesting extras between continent sections include pirate maps & flags, maps through time, transport maps, wildlife maps, time zones and overseas territories. There is so much to discover!

Buster Books have published so many brilliant non-fiction books. With vibrant colours, accessible facts and a light, engaging tone, these are books children will want to read!
