It has been wonderful to read and review the three books in the Toby Bean series over the past four years. Sally Doherty has created a young hero who is funny, brave and incredibly caring. Looking after his mum who is chronically ill, he shows resilience in the face of so many challenges yet still strives to find the best possible life for them both. The witches who become a part of their lives are delightful. They share their powers with Toby (sometimes with hazardous results), supporting him and his mum no matter what. Across the three books, Toby has grown in maturity, confidence and in his desire to find out who he truly is. With good friends by his side, he knows he will find the answer.
