Unicorns in Uniforms: Dragon Inferno is absulutely delightful. The first in a new, brightly illustrated chapter book series, it’s fun, educational and action-packed. Each book will focus on a different profession through the eyes of an engaging character. In Dragon Inferno, readers explore the ups and downs of being a firefighter.

Meet the Unicorns and Vehicles: A Fun Factfile
The first few pages of Dragon Inferno introduces readers to the unicorns and vehicles via a picture gallery. There’s also a ‘Unicorn Rap’ to help get to know their personalities. But here are a few fun facts about each pairing:
Blaze and his vehicle Quench: The firefighters
- Blaze has a heart of gold but struggles with her temper. The unicorns like to give her advice on how to stay calm but yoga and calming bubble baths? No thanks!
- Blaze keeps Quench immaculately clean with a daily scrub and polish. Quench doesn’t love this routine – or pretends not to – and often makes silly noises while Blaze is cleaning him.
- Blaze loves to listen to loud music, especially when Quench is making his silly noises.
- Blaze loves cooking spicy food but the other unicorns joke that eating spicy food inflames her temper.
- Watch out if Quench is about! He likes to play watery tricks…especially if it involves squirting creatures who are nearby.
Sunny and his vehicle Bee
- Sunny and Bee are the air and mountain rescue team. Bee is a unicopter – a helicopter especially designed for unicorns.
- Sunny drinks several smoothies a day. His smoothies are all the colours of the rainbow, just like his hair.
- Sunny and Bee have won the International Ariel Awards nine times for stupendous flying.
- Sunny is super cool and very chilled. He likes to surf in his spare time.
- Bee, however, is a little bit proud and often vain. She secretly thinks she is the leader of the unicorn vehicles…Shhh!
Locke and his vehicle Pat: The police team
- Locke is the oldest unicorn in uniform who has been serving The Sunshine Realm the longest. He is the leader of the unicorns in uniforms and has a natural authority.
- Locke snores VERY loudly and often keeps the other unicorns awake. If you’re going to share a dormitory with Locke, you’ll need some earplugs!
- Pat is a trusty and reliable vehicle but is a bit battered and bruised. He doesn’t like being bossed about by Locke…or anyone for that matter.
- Locke likes to bake but rarely has time. Instead, he gets most of his yummy pastries from Clop and Clouda at the Bakehorse Bakery. He also likes to share his top baking tips with them…whether Clop and Clouda like it or not.
- Pat might be one of the smaller vehicles, but he’s mighty. His exhaust might roar louder than a dragon, but don’t underestimate him in a chase. He isn’t one to give up easily.
Dash and her vehicle, Bow: The paramedic team
- If you haven’t noticed, Dash is a zebra and not a unicorn. Zebras are rare in The Sunshine Realm but every creature is welcome here. Dash has wanted to be a unicorn in uniform since she was a tiny foal and is so good at her job that the unicorns just had to have her on their team.
- Dash is kind and caring, just like Bow. They’re the dream team for anyone who needs help.
- Dash likes to have a giggle and a dance but she also loves knitting and soaking in bubble baths. She thinks bubble baths are a great way to stay calm…Blaze, are you listening?
- Dash’s best friend is a witch called Jinx. The pair of them like to knit together, although Jinx also has a habit of performing not-quite-right spells.
- Dash might be the newest unicorn in uniform but Bow is an experienced rainbowlance. She knows The Sunshine Realm so well that she can find her way anywhere.
Aquarius and her vehicle Whizzy: The lifeguard team
- Aquarius is a narwhal. Narwhals are also known as ‘unicorns of the sea’. Aquarius doesn’t actually have a horn though. It’s called a tooth.
- Aquarius is super social and has lots of friends. She’s fun and bubbly and is the leader of a synchronised swimming team.
- Aquarius does have a vehicle, although he doesn’t feature in book one. That’s probably because Whizzy isn’t really a very whizzy boat and loves nothing more than a good snooze in the boathouse.
- Aquarius can sometimes get frustrated because she can’t leave the water to help the other unicorns. However, she has a very important job – manning the Mane Control Room. The Mane Control Room is in a boathouse which is attached to the unicorns’ headquarters. It has been specially adapted so Aquarius can swim inside it from her rockpool. All the emergency calls go to the mane control room.
- Aquarius’ best friend is an albatross called Beaky. Look out for him in book two.
