Wildsmith: Magical Mountain Rescue by Liz Flanagan & Joe Todd-Stanton

Magical Mountain Rescue is the fourth and final adventure in this wonderful series for readers age 7+. With wildlife conservation at the heart of a thrilling political conflict, readers are whisked away on a perilous journey filled with kidnap, quests, danger and the most amazing animals. Joe Todd-Stanton’s gorgeous illustrations cause the story to leap off the page. Take time to really look at the cover – one of the most beautiful I’ve seen, conveying the folklore essence of the story while evoking key themes of rugged adventure, teamwork, resolve and resilience.

Rowan is a wildsmith – she can sense a creature’s needs with a truly wonderful bond. Through healing powers and infinite optimism, she strives to protect those who can’t protect themselves. Her courage pushes her into the most dangerous situations yet she always perseveres to try to make things right. Justice and compassion are at the centre of everything she does.

In Magical Mountain Rescue, Rowan sets out to help find a missing prince. On her way, she discovers another magical creature who needs her help – a beautiful doomsdog puppy left behind my his mother. Rowan must travel through the mountains to find the prince and bring peace back to the land.

The Wildsmith stories are wonderful for children throughout Key Stage 2. Overflowing with action and adventure as well as strong family bonds and friendship, it’s the perfect fantasy series.
