Nettle is an intriguingly magical tale of faeries, power and identity. Readers are transported to a world of tricks and traps where a jealous king, changelings and shadow faeries prove anything is possible.
Nettle has always been a bit different. After being found in a patch of nettles by a kind woman, she grew up hearing her name on the wind and her “grandma” filling her heart and mind with faery lore. When Grandma falls ill, Nettle wishes with all her might that she would be well again. Nettle is pulled into the faery realm where she hopes her wish will come true.
Unfortunately, King Locryn is angry and hateful towards those from the human realm. He sets Nettle a series of near impossible tasks in return for her grandmother’s health. During her time there, Nettle finds ways to make friends, solve challenges and play a few tricks of her own. A young adult story aimed at readers age 12+, there’s a bit of romance along the way. Two young men cause Nettle to consider what she values most and discover who she truly is.
Nettle is a wonderful character who uses her power to find her way through a confusing world. Her intelligence, cunning, knowledge and determination set her on the path to a life she never imagined.
