Ministry of Mischief by Alex Foulkes is a laugh-out-loud story that is definitely over-flowing with mischief! Full of voice and personality, it values being yourself and embracing every bit of an over-active imagination.
Joey and Harry do not like each other! When they get stuck together on a school trip to the Abermaple Museum, things start to go seriously wrong. Joey’s group is desperate to win the Mini Victorian Britain competition but she already feels like she’s let them down with her uncontrolable handwriting. Harry’s teasing really hurts and Joey doesn’t want to be anywhere near him.
Things at the museum are not as they seem. A ragtag group of troublesome aliens are sneaking around behind the scenes causing stubbed toes, paper cuts, mismatched socks and all sorts of other irritating issues. When they snatch Harry, Joey has no choice but to follow them to Impworld and try to rescue him.
As they make their way through this unbelievable adventure, Joey discovers leadership skills she didn’t know she had and starts to understand the person she wants to be. She’s empowered to use her brilliant “inner reporter”voice to share her views of the world and develops empathy along the way.
