Book Review, Chapter Book

Midnight Adventures in Primrose Park by Helen Peters

Midnight Adventures in Primrose Park contains two beautiful stories about the dangers British wild animals face. With short chapters and appealing illustrations, readers are taken from the animals’ natural habitats to the scary city. Dogs, barbed wire fences, cars and flooding threaten the animals’ health and separate them from their families.

Hassan’s mum works for the wildlife rescue centre. Readers see a wonderful model of care for animals and respect for all living things. Anyone who loves animals will be inspired by these stories of helping creatures in need.

Factual information about deer, otters, foxes, owls, bats and salmon is shared in a gentle and engaging way. Their habitats, diet and family relationships come to life on the page. Dapple the deer and Olive the otter are in trouble for a while but Hassan and his mum look after them and help them find their way home again.

Thank you to Barrington Stoke for this charming book!
