Sunshine Simpson Cooks Up a Storm by G.M. Linton

It is wonderful to be back with the delightful Sunshine Simpson. Her honest and earnest voice resonate through the story, drawing in readers as friends rather than those on the outside of Sunshine’s story.

In this fantastic sequel, Sunshine finds herself in the midst of a very tricky time – the transition to secondary school. There’s no denying her worries about having to take the bus to school, whether or not she’ll have a mobile phone and everything else that comes with the newness of this big change. But Sunshine is also worried about her mum. Since the death of Grandad Bobby, mum just hasn’t been the same. Is there anything she can do to help?

Just when Sunshine starts to formulate a plan, life becomes more complicated. Dad has to work away for part of each week and a school charity challenge is running far from smoothly. Sunshine takes it all so personally and feels responsible for everyone and everything.

This honest, heart-felt story is full of emotion. As Sunshine’s family come to terms with Grandad’s death and welcome an unexpected visitor, they support each other and model brilliant family communication. They can make it through anything together.

A huge thank you to Usborne for this charming book!
