Why I love graphic novels:
I love graphic novels because I like the combination of the words and the pictures. It really helps me to imagine what’s going on in the story. They’re quick and fun to read. You can go back to reread them lots of times and spot something different every time. Every graphic novel is different. There are classics, adventures and realistic stories. I like the realistic stories the best because I like to read about kids like me.
What makes Remarkably Ruby really special:
Remarkably Ruby is about two people. Ruby is an outsider and an introvert. Mia is an extrovert. They used to be really good friends but now it seems like they don’t have anything in common. Mia is a year older than Ruby. When she moves to middle school, Ruby feels sad and left behind. After lots of ups and downs, the two girls discover that they still have lots in common and are still really good friends.
I like this story because it shows how friendships can last even when there are really big changes. I went to a different secondary school to lots of my friends but we’ve still found ways to keep our friendships going. I also like this graphic novel because one of my new friends at high school is named Ruby.
