The Story of Greenriver is a beautiful celebration of nature and the creatures who rely on it for survival. There are three main characters in this story: Silken the beaver, Sedge the otter and the river itself. With the threat of flooding, Silken and Sedge each embark on a journey to save their home. Called towards each other by the spirit of the river, they face unimaginable dangers and come together in bravery with strength they didn’t know they possessed.
In this story, Holly Webb gives animals their own powerful voices – innocent, honest and determined. There is a real distrust of anything different as each species strives to keep themselves alive. Ultimately, they find they want the same things and can help each other achieve the ultimate goal of survival.
This is a gorgeous book to share with someone. Zanna Goldhawk’s beautiful illustrations give the story even more of a classic feel. Fans of Piers Torday and Kieran Larwood will enjoy losing themselves in this epic adventure.
