I am completely charmed by Frank and Bert – a pair of fun-loving friends who just want to have a great game of hide-and-seek.
Bert thinks he’s great at hiding but he really isn’t!
He reminds me of my little girl playing hide and seek with her grandpa… He did a good job of pretending he couldn’t find her.
It turns out that counting to ten just isn’t long enough for Bert to find a good hiding spot. Frank decides to count to 100 instead. Young readers will love pointing to the numbers as they wind across the page and counting along with Frank.
There’s sure to be a big “Oh no!” as they realise Bert has left a very big clue. Frank is a fantastic friend and recognises that sometimes winning isn’t everything. He pretends he can’t find Bert so Bert isn’t sad and everyone has a good time. Frank even fixes the scarf!
What a lovely story of friendship, changing the game so it works for everyone and what fairness really means. This will definitely be on my list of birthday and Christmas gifts for the little ones in my life.
